Hi, I’m Ibukun Taiwo and I’m your friendly internet writer.
Get to know me in 3 minutes!
I really, really love books, science fiction and fantasy, old school music (mostly 80s and 90s stuff), videogames and wrestling (it’s scripted, not fake, there’s a difference!).
The older I get, the more my favorite authors fluctuate but Malcolm Gladwell, Ken Liu and Brandon Sanderson have been consistently on my list.
I have a weird obsession with Seychelles even though I’m yet to visit.
I do a lot of volunteer work with teenagers. It makes me happy.
Career and experience
I do several things well.
- Content Strategy
- Digital Marketing
- Digital Advocacy and Marketing
- Training other writers
I currently manage communications on the Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Financial Services initiative, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation project, domiciled at the Lagos Business School.
Over my short career, I’ve worked with tech startups, newspaper publishers, research institutes, non-profits, founders and activists.
However, writing remains my first love. Whenever I’m not stuck within the confines of an office space, I moonlight as a copywriter, editor and ghostwriter (whichever hat fits).
I’ve worked in diverse sectors — advertising, technology startups, coworking & the sharing economy, and fintech & financial services.
I love stories and I’d love nothing else than to spend all day reading and lounging. But I can’t (because that’s flirting with perpetual starvation). So, I do the next best thing which is writing and editing them.
Remember when I said I usually moonlight as a copywriter, editor and ghostwriter?
I usually get paid for doing that.
I LIKE getting paid to do that.
I live in Lagos, Nigeria. But I’ve worked with clients from all over – Ghana, UK, Canada and of course, at home here in Nigeria.
